ONLINE Visual & Media Arts Audition Requirements

The Visual and Media Arts Department is looking for students interested in Visual & Media Arts.  Students may demonstrate a talent in one medium or a variety of mediums such as graphite, photography, graphic design, video, charcoal, pastel, pen and ink, paint, clay, plaster, or digital art.

 

​To apply to SDSCPA Visual & Media Arts:

Please submit 6 - 10 of your most recent original art or media pieces for your portfolio, and your video submission.  You may pick works you have already finished or create new ones for the audition.

The portfolio should include:

1. Presentation

• Minimum of 6-10 ORIGINAL ART PIECES

Works added to your portfolio should be your most recent original artworks.​

• Slides or photographs are acceptable for three-dimensional and/or over-sized pieces

• Neatness of presentation is important – artwork should be shown without unnecessary marks, smudges, ragged edges or folds.

• 2-dimensional work does not have to be matted

• Include works done in a wide variety of media and approaches (graphite pencil, colored pencil, ink, charcoal, photography, graphic design, digital art, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, collage, papier maché, clay, etc).​​

​​2. Subjects

The Portfolio must include at least:

• One self-portrait

• One other work from direct observation.  This can be a drawing of objects or a photograph showing a unique perspective on a collection of objects.

• At least four of your best works in your favorite mediums.

3. Video Artist Statement

• Submit a video recording of yourself answering the following questions.  Recordings should uploaded into your cloud folder or in your submitted portfolio with a link.  

  • What was your process for creating your digital media portfolio?​

  • What programs, applications, and methods do you use in your work?

  • What are your personal passions, experiences, and career goals related to visual art & digital media?

 

Areas of assessment will include:

• Variety of Media

• Quality

• Originality

• Craftsmanship

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION APPLICATION

Please upload your pieces to a cloud folder like Google Drive or Drop Box.  Ensure the settings on your portfolio folder are set so that Anyone with the Link can view the contents.
