ONLINE High School Theatre Audition Requirements

The Theatre Department is looking for students who have a passion for performing.

 

​To apply to SDSCPA Theatre Major:

Please submit an audition video and the accompanying audition form, or resume.  Your video should not exceed 5 minutes in length, should be recent (within one month of submission) and must include the following components:

 

Your audition submission should include the following:

1. Introduction of yourself (slate). (make sure to be YOU!!!)

• First and Last name

• Your age

• The grade that you will be entering in the Fall.​​​​

​   2. Answer the following questions:

• Why do you want to attend SDSCPA?

• Is there anything else you would like us to know?

   ​3. Perform your prepared monologue.

You may choose one (1) monologue that is age appropriate and no longer than 90 seconds.

• Introduce your monologue before you begin.

     Include the title of the play, and the character you will be playing.

• Relax and have fun!  "You have nothing to prove, only to share."​

     (if you are auditioning for the 8th grade and do not have a monologue, a few have been provided for you.)​

   4. OPTIONAL!

Prepare and perform one (1) song.

• The song can either be sung a cappella (without music), or with accompaniment - with a track or sheet music.

  • Make sure you are louder than your accompaniment​

  • Your chosen song should be age appropriate

  • The song you sing should be 60 - 90 seconds in length

For your performance:

• Have the camera on your eyeline.​

• Once you begin, look slightly above or off to the left or right of the camera.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION APPLICATION

Please upload your video to a cloud folder like Google Drive or Drop Box.

If you prefer to use YouTube, please upload the video as Unlisted to protect your student’s privacy and add the link to your cloud folder with your additional audition materials. 

If you use Google Drive, please make sure the settings on your video and folder are set so that Anyone with the Link can view the contents.
